Research/Instructional Library Analyst

 

Position Summary

This position serves as a working part of the Library’s multi-office Research Team and uses online, print and Internet resources to assist attorneys and staff with information needs. 

 

Essential Functions

·         Conduct legal, business and scientific research

·         Provide training to attorneys and staff

·         Collaborate on training development initiatives and enhancements

·         Create and maintain training materials

·         Maintain Intranet password database

·         Responsible for marketing of library initiatives

·         Assist in Library Intranet site development

·         Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

Education:

Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years as librarian/researcher working with legal, business and scientific-related materials.

Skills:

Proficiency in online services such as Lexis, Westlaw, Courtlink, Dialog, D&B, CCH and BNA.   Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and with individuals at all organizational levels.  Possess a customer focus and have a track record of providing the highest level of customer service.  Able to organize and prioritize issues and workload and follow complex procedures.  Good decision maker and proven ability to manage time, people, and resources in order to meet deadlines.  Demonstrated ability to manage projects and handle multiple competing priorities.  Ability to take initiative in handling projects and anticipating what needs to be done.  Able to solve problems quickly, effectively, and diplomatically.  Flexibility and ability to adapt to constantly changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, typewriter, calculator, fax machine, duplicating machine and so on.

Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines.

Able to deal with stress associated with fast-paced work environment.  Multiple priorities/tasks.  Make judgment decisions and adapt to changing work situations.  Grasp and apply new ideas.  Communicate with various personalities at all levels.

Working
Conditions:

Works in a typical office setting.  Occasionally called upon to work overtime.
