Qualifications:
Education: ALA accredited Master's degree in Library & Information Science (required)
Experience: A minimum of two years law library experience is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Research and reference assistance
Bibliographic instruction and electronic services training.
Interlibrary loan.
Maintain SIMA Serials program.
Acquisitions and collection development - evaluate new products and services for possible
inclusion in collection.
Processing and cataloging new materials.
Intranet development and maintenance (as part of Research Librarian Team).
Vendor relations, including account/subscription review and management.
Library space and facilities planning and collection maintenance.
Supervise filing service and other temporary staff.
Provide Library orientation for all new personnel.
Order Lexis, Westlaw, and other passwords for new hires.
Communicate and administer the policies and procedures of the firm and the department.
Miscellaneous technical services and maintenance functions as needed.
Requirements:
This position requires an individual who can work with staff at all levels within the firm and who can prioritize projects and duties rapidly and efficiently. The ability to function effectively as a team player (as part of Research Librarian team), and to exercise independent judgment and diplomacy when handling difficult situations is also essential. Other necessary characteristics include: service-oriented, proactive, flexible, adaptable, responsible, and detail-oriented. Excellent written and oral communication skills, professionalism, a cooperative attitude, and dependability are also desired traits.

Research Librarian
The Sample Company, Inc. has an immediate opening for an experienced Research Librarian in our Philadelphia office. Responsibilities include providing research and reference assistance to all users, training attorneys and staff in the use of all print and electronic resources, handling interlibrary loan requests, and collection development and maintenance. In addition, the candidate will work with a team of Research Librarians across the firm to maintain and update the library page on the intranet, and handle other library projects as needed. This position may assist with some research and reference requests from other offices, and may also help with various administrative duties when necessary.
Requirements:
ALA-accredited MLS, MLIS or equivalent, and at least two years of law library research experience. Strong research skills utilizing all print and electronic resources (Lexis, Westlaw, various web-based and CD-ROM services) are essential. A strong service orientation, flexibility, excellent written and oral communication skills, prioritization skills, dependability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment are also highly desirable characteristics.
