There's always been a spectrum of different types of uses of copyrighted works. At one extreme  there's clear infringing activity, and at the other
extreme clear non-infringing activity.  But there's a wide range of activities in between these extremes that occur on a daily basis that may or
may not implicate one or more of a copyright owners exclusive rights.  Many of these activities may be covered by the fair use defense, but what exactly
is considered a "fair use" is not always clear. ...

Also, a  AALL Board Member(TBA) , will speak at the Institute.

This year’s afternoon program will be a one-hour interactive program  on "What's Old is New Again" ,  moderated by Scott DeMaris, GPLLA Vice President  and Nikki Shenk, Manager, Librarian Relations at West and Dan Giancaterino, Internet Librarian at Jenkins Law Library.  All Institute attendees are requested to stay for this program.
What’s Old is New Again

Nowadays, most of us are feeling pressure to keep library spending at an absolute minimum. As we’re forced to cut back on less used library resources, it’s important to get the maximum benefit from the print and electronic materials that we retain. That means it’s time to get creative! Join Scott DeMaris, GPLLA Incoming President,  Nikki Shenk, Manager, Librarian Relations at West and Dan Giancaterino, Internet Librarian for Jenkins Law Library, as they host a forum discussion about stretching library budgets to the max by instituting new uses for existing library resources. Included topics include hidden secrets in Microsoft Word, free sources on the Web and subscription extras that you didn’t know existed (and weren’t using). We encourage attendees to contribute suggestions to this open and fun discussion about getting the most mileage out of our library dollars.

Admission for this program is $50 for GPLLA members/$55 for non-members/$20 for student, retired or between jobs. Breakfast and lunch will be served.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP to me by Monday, May  25 . To reserve your place, we’ll need payment in advance. No payments will be collected at the Institute.

Hope to see you all there!
