Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP, a national law firm, seeks to hire a full-time team oriented Research and Technical Services Librarian in our Philadelphia Office. Working closely with the Research and Information team, which includes another researcher, this position provides firm-wide research and reference support to attorneys and staff in eight locations, and its business development functions.

Responsibilities:
- Provide ready reference and in-depth legal and non-legal research and reference support to attorneys and staff
- Support current awareness and business development functions of the Department
- Conduct research in primary law resources at all levels of government, secondary sources, public records, property, news, expert witness, and business and company records
- Conduct reference interviews to clarify research needs and outcomes
- Document and summarize research results
- Compile competitive intelligence reports in support of business development and marketing
- Conduct docket monitoring and create news and litigation alerts
- Record billable time for reference and research work using 3-E Time Capture according to Firm timelines
- Route print and electronic serials, migrating print routing to electronic where available and preferred
- Oversee the check-in and claims process for library materials
- Oversee and organize incoming and outgoing Philadelphia departmental mail, including library materials
- Maintain communication with MCS and external delivery services about newspapers and routing lists
- Process attorney desk books and maintain databases of attorney desk books
- Assist with maintenance of the space and collections in the Philadelphia library, including weeding, shifting and shelving
- Participate in password management and inter-library loans
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in librarianship or information required
- 2 years of experience conducting in-depth legal and non-legal research in a law library
- 2 years of experience working in a law library catalogue preferred including serials
- Law firm experience preferred
- Understanding of all aspects of legal research
- Knowledge of non-legal resources, including public records, company and competitive intelligence databases
- Research proficiency with Lexis, Westlaw, CCH, BNA, BLAW, Heinonline and other paper and electronic resources
- Proficiency with EOS/SIRSI
- Ability to prioritize work, make decisions and initiate improvements
- Strong, written and oral communication skills
- Service orientation with strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and collaboratively with others
